As a subdivision of State Government, the Conservation District does follow the State of Montana Open Records laws. Due to the fact that the Conservation District only has 2 staff members and we have a full operations plan every year, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Public Information Request policy in 2023.
The PIR policy (Public Information Request policy) outlines the process that the public should utilize in order to request information from the Conservation District. The District does charge for staff time and document reproduction time, as well as for the cost of any external storage devices if applicable. Review the PIR Policy for those charges. All estimated costs must be paid prior to the District beginning work on the request.
