On Thursday, May 30, People and Carnivores will host a day-long workshop
focusing on best practices for grizzly-deterring electric fencing. The
workshop will be held on a farm in the Jocko Valley, 18 miles north of
Missoula, and is for managers, practitioners, and landowners who are using or
may use electric fence to deter bears. We hope that you can join us.
The day will include classroom presentations and discussions of innovative
fencing techniques, as well as field demonstrations of permanent and temporary
electric fence installations. Field staff from People and Carnivores as well as
other researchers and practitioners will present fencing types at different
stations, and we will rotate attendees in groups to talk about the different
techniques.
Come explore the many ways that electric fence can be used to decrease
conflicts between humans and grizzlies as well as its limitations. Learn
something new and share what you know.
More workshop details are coming soon, but space is limited
so please RSVP as soon
as possible to P&C’s Martha Sellers at msellers@peopleandcarnivores.org. If you think of someone else who should
attend, please send Martha their contact info and we will reach out to
them.
