So, what is a Conservation District?

  • Conservation Districts are government entities that provide technical assistance and tools to manage and protect land and water resources in U.S. states and insular areas. There are more than 3,000 in the United States.
  • Montana has 58 CD’s and is a Head water state, so we’re pretty important, go ahead Toot That Horn!

How do the CD’s help us?

  •  CD’s work with landowners and operators who are willing to help them manage and protect land and water resources on all public and private lands in the US.
  • CD’s work with rural homeowners, urban homeowners, and absentee landowners.
  • A CD will come to your reservation, farm or ranch to assist you in specific activities which will protect and improve the long-term health and productivity of your land.
  • CD’s work with partners to incorporate cost-share programs to assist landowners with expenses that occur when implementing sustainable practice projects.
