LCCD is Hiring a Conservation Planner!!!

As part of a grant from the National Association of Conservation Districts, the Lewis and Clark Conservation District is hiring a full-time temporary position as a Conservation Planner.   While working for the CD, this employee will be expected to: Collaborate with local conservation partners including government agencies, non-profit organizations and private agricultural landowners. Provide outreach and education to local agricultural landowners regarding integrated weed management, grassland enhancement and restoration, riparian grazing, stream corridor health, forestry and financial assistance opportunities. May Regular Board Meeting

The next regular meeting of the Lewis & Clark Conservation District will be held on May 14 at 1pm.  Unless the USDA Service Center is opened back up to public traffic, the meeting will be held via conference call.  If the building is open, the location is in the conference room, 790 Colleen Street, Helena MT 59601. Public Hearing

The Lewis and Clark Conservation District will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 9-10 am at the Helena USDA Service Center, 790 Colleen Street, Helena, Montana. The purpose of the public hearing will be to review the Conservation District budget and to consider continuing to levy a permissive medical mill to cover employee benefits. Job Opening-Meagher Conservation District

Meagher County District Technician Description Duties and responsibilities: Work directly with landowners to initiate and implement conservation practices, prepare reports for funding agencies and provide monthly reports to the Meagher County Conservation District. The district technician will assist in completing land surveys, forest and range inventories and write conservation plans in accordance with NRCS specifications; stake out and measure completed conservation practices; ensure conservation practices are completed according to standards and specifications; assist in recommending and designing conservation practices. Yesterday, March 30, I attended the Area 6 Administrator's meeting.  We haven't had a meeting in a while--the last agenda I have was 10 years ago!  Anyway, we try to do these now and then to check in with each other and get a feel for the types of projects and issues that other district in our area are dealing with.  It was a good meeting, since it had been so long, there were new faces, and lots of discussion about what's been going on in our districts and other issues from across the state. I am out on sick leave today...caught the local crud that's going around I guess.  Ashley is in the office today, but anyone seeking 310 permits from Thursday's board meeting will have to wait til tomorrow.  I'll be mailing/emailing them out in the morning when I'm back in the office.  In the meantime, it's tea and toast and naps for me.  Below is a screen capture from my weather cam looking roughly south west over the valley.  Windy and lots of clouds today.

New Face in the Office
