July 2020 Board meeting

The next regular board meeting of the Lewis & Clark Conservation District Supervisors will be held on July 9, 2020.  The meeting will begin at 8:30 am and will take place at the Dearborn Community Center, Highway 434, outside of Wolf Creek Montana. Coronavirus Food Assistance Program-FSA

Farm Service Agency (FSA) is administering the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) right now.  There were a few webinars online recently which were recorded and will be available to those who missed them who may wish to view them. Public Hearing

The Lewis and Clark Conservation District will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the hearing will be held via conference call/zoom conferencing. The purpose of the public hearing will be to review the Conservation District budget and to consider increasing the permissive mill levy to cover employee benefits for an additional Conservation District employee.  This proposal would amount to about $.60/year per $200,000 home value, currently, the amount is about $.25/year. Spring Rain, Snowpack, Streams and Emergencies…

Photo credit NRCS, 1964 near Augusta   With the upcoming spring storm predicted, I just want to remind everyone that there are avenues to take action in an emergency to keep you out of trouble with permitting agencies.   With the Conservation District, if life, crops or property are in immediate danger, action can be taken and an emergency notice should be filed with the CD within 15 days of doing the work. Montana Outdoors

I recently opened the latest issue of the Montana Outdoors magazine, published by Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.  My spouse and I are long-time subscribers and especially enjoy the annual Photo issue. This particular article was short, one page, and really caught my eye.  I so enjoyed it, that I tracked it down at the source and requested permission to put it on our website.  The article highlights a unique collaborative partnership that most people in the state don't even probably know about, that between the regional Fish, Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologists and your local Conservation District.  …
