Volunteer Event!

Join us in cutting dormant willows for an upcoming lake shore project on Lake Helena! We'll be meeting at the location noted below at 9 am on March 16. Volunteer agreements will be available to be signed that day. Please bring appropriate gear for the weather--boots, coat, hat, gloves, etc.--as well as your own loppers if you have them. This Workshop is Full-June 11, 2022 Rain Barrel Workshop

Co-hosted by the Lake Helena Watershed Group and the Lewis and Clark Conservation District, attendees at this event will put together their own rain barrel (materials provided) and will have the opportunity to decorate it the way they'd like. Additionally, they will learn about the value of rainwater collection in regard to nonpoint source pollution. Riparian Management Workshop

This workshop, sponsored by the Lewis and Clark Conservation District, and partially funded by a grant from the MACD Programs, will be held on September 14th and will begin at 8:30 am.  We'll start the day at the Augusta Youth Center, next door to the Augusta Senior Center, for the morning portion and lunch provided by the Buckhorn Bar.   The afternoon will be in the field at a landowner's property on Elk Creek. In the next month, there will be two weed pulls, one in Lewis and Clark County and one in Teton County. Montana Youth Range Camp

Montana Youth Range Camp will be hosted by the Lewis & Clark Conservation District in 2020.  The camp will be held on the beautiful Dearborn River at the C Bar N Mission, August 3-6. Students aged 11-17 will be introduced to 25 of Montana's important range plants; grasses, forbs and shrubs.  They will learn about the interaction of soils, water, plants, wildlife and livestock on the range.  The camp provides and excellent opportunity for youth of varying backgrounds to become more aware of the value and potential of Montana's rangelands.
