Conservation District Cost Share Program

The Lewis & Clark Conservation District allocates a portion of our budget every year to a few cost share projects with landowners.  These projects can be everything from a weed/re-seed project or culvert replacement, to a pipeline or stockwater project.   Deadline to apply is November 13, 2019 for the 2020 calendar year.  Projects must be completed before the end of 2020.  Up to $2500 is available for a $5000 project with a 50/50 match. For more information, call the District Office at 406-449-5000 extension 5 or email lccd@mt.net.

Elk Creek Road Update

Lewis and Clark County has no plans to move the road at this time or do additional work to the roadway.  The berms built are within the County’s 60’ right-of-way.  The purpose was to ‘nudge’ the stream back to the south, away from the road.  This approach was selected as it was the only way the Army Corps of Engineers would grant a permit to move the water off the road.  The work was solely done to restore access to areas west of the EK5 bridge.  The County sees it as temporary because the creek will likely flood again and…
